El Aula de Música Coral of the University of Alcalá, with the aim of promoting choral singing and vocal music culture in general, announces the second edition of the International Choral Composition Competition.
This initiative responds to the institution’s strong interest in supporting choral music and current composers, thus trying to bring these authors and their works closer to the public.
Composers from Spain and abroad may submit their compositions until 14 May.
The competition is open to composers of any nationality over the age of 18 with a maximum of three unpublished works for mixed a cappella choir of a minimum duration of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes, with a free theme. The winners will receive a first prize of 700 euros, a diploma and the premiere of the work in one of the concerts of the Ciclo de Música Coral promoted by the Aula de Música Coral of the University of Alcalá in 2022; a second prize of 350 euros and a diploma and a third prize of 200 euros and a diploma. In addition, if any of the winning works, always giving priority to the one with the highest score, contains a theme related to the University of Alcalá, its history, academic activity, research work, university life or any other associated aspect, it will be awarded the ‘Cisneros’ prize, endowed with 200 euros and an accredited diploma.
