Theatre for Equality, a commitment to healthy, egalitarian and diverse relationships.
On the afternoon of 9 March, Complutense University hosted the seventh Theatre for Equality showcase in the auditorium of the Faculties of Philology and Philosophy， organised by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Culture and the Equality Unit.
The Vice-Rector for Culture, Isabel García, pointed out that this is the first theatrical activity to be carried out by the Complutense University this year 2022, with the participation of four companies: Teatro por Necesidad, Teatruko, Complutum and Teatro Chamaeleo. They were joined by El Barracón, which did not bring a play, but was the host of the event.
Before the performances, it was made clear that this show, although not born with that intention, is a tribute to all those who suffer from the war, because “our thoughts and hearts are with them”.
Sara Moreno, representative of El Barracón asked for a minute’s silence for the victims of the war, while remembering the pioneers who helped women in the theatre, as well as the Ukrainian women who are fighting for their country. They believe that culture is the best weapon for peace and for the generation of healthy, equal and diverse relationships.
