The UCM’s Institute for University Development and Cooperation has been in existence for 30 years. It was not only the first institution created by a Spanish university in this field, but also the first to offer training at the highest level: this year is its 37th Master’s degree in International Cooperation associated to Spain and Latin America. In the past year, the IUDC has had a new director, Professor of Sociology Esteban Sánchez Moreno, who has replaced Professor of International Relations José Ángel Sotillo. The arrival of Sánchez Moreno opens a new phase. Work has now been carried out to strengthen the research activities of the Faculty Centre, its publications, and to emphasise its interdisciplinary nature and bring it closer to recent social issues.
