Details of the Program

Foundation undergraduate scholarship program at the Complutense University of Madrid, with 120 places in the first round of Complutense University undergraduate admissions, reserved for students who have been approved to enter the program. Students entering the program are required to attend a Foundation Stage to strengthen their Spanish language and academic skills before starting their undergraduate studies. Entrance to the program is subject to a competitive interview, written examination and material review, and once entered into the Foundation Stage, you are eligible for both an undergraduate place reservation and a scholarship!

Complutense International Foundation Diploma

Total hours: 675 hours (575 hours intensive language + 100 hours specialized courses)

Total credits: 90 credits

Foundation Undergraduate Program Advantages

Students who are approved to enter the program will be offered an undergraduate place at the Complutense University of Madrid in advance.
*Students need to have reached the A2 level of Spanish.
The Foundation Stage starts on 10 January each year and finishes on 22 July of that year, with direct entry to the Undergraduate Stage in the same year, allowing for a seamless transition of courses.
Professors from the Complutense University are in charge of the classes, allowing students to adapt to the undergraduate teaching environment in advance and provide a solid foundation for university studies.
All students participating in the program will receive a scholarship for their undergraduate studies, tuition fees are around 36% of the original price of tuition.

Foundation Courses

The International Foundation Program at the Complutense University consists of two obligatory modules, a total of 90 course credits and 675 hours of course time.

Module I

Spanish Language Courses

This course is based on the syllabus developed by the Instituto Cervantes and aims to develop and improve students’ language skills in written comprehension and expression, reading comprehension, listening comprehension and oral expression and interaction in Spanish.

Course duration: 575 hours face-to-face (25 hours per week)

Module II

Introduction to the University Diploma Program

This module provides students with professionally oriented courses, divided between the social sciences and humanities. Students will take three compulsory major-oriented courses as well as Complutense University’s Introduction to Ethics and Pedagogy.
