June 29, 2022

This June 28,International LGBTIQ+ Pride Day , the Complutense University of Madrid, in its commitment to full inclusion。 Joins the manifesto for University Pride 2022 as part of the Network of Universities for Diversity (RUD).

The university community of the Complutense works every day to make the University a space in which personal well-being and good coexistence prevail.

For this reason, thanks to the inclusion coordination, the campaign “UCM free of LGTBIfobia” has been deployed in the faculties. We want to make visible our work in promoting equity and non-discrimination.

We also want to convey that from the Faculty of Information Sciences. he screening of The Wizard of Oz, 1939, will be held on June 28 at 11:00 a.m., in the Assembly Hall of the main building, together with a subsequent colloquium , which will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the participation of the Vice Dean of Students, Equality and Diversity, Laia Falcón, Professor Francisco Zurian, coordinator of the Master’s Degree in LGBTIQ+ Studies at UCM, who will direct the colloquium, and the researchers Esther Pérez Nieto and Lucía Vazquez. Then the permanent mural will be inaugurated on the walls of the faculty, of one of the icons of this film.

We also want to highlight that the Inclusion Coordination of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology (Manuel Sánchez Reinón) invites us students and teachers to take a picture of us at 10:00 with the poster of the Office of Sexual Diversity and Gender Identity of the Day Against LGBTIFOBIA and the flag of the LGBTIQ+ Pride Day. Both the poster and the flag have already been placed for days on a panel in the entrance hall of the building and that will be the meeting place.

From the Research Group “Anthropology, Diversity and Coexistence” we have organized a seminar with Sebastián Collado, from the Faculty of Psychology, Alberto Hurtado University (Chile), in which he will present his work on “Homophobic violence and the creation of sexual identity narrative of non-heterosexual masculinities in Santiago de Chile”.
